How it works

Slab-based, not flat-rate.

Pakistan taxes salaried income in slabs. The first PKR 600,000 a year is not taxed at all. Above that, each band has its own rate, and only the income above the slab boundary is taxed at the higher rate. The calculator shows the slab you land in and the exact split between fixed tax (from the bands below) and marginal tax (on the band you sit in).

FBR amends the slabs every June through the Finance Act. We update this calculator within a week of the Act being notified, and keep prior-year slabs available so you can compare.

What this calculator handles

  • · Salaried-individual slabs only (not AOPs / businesses)
  • · 3 fiscal years selectable
  • · Monthly or annual gross input
  • · Year-over-year comparison built in
  • · Shareable URL with your inputs preserved

EOBI, PESSI, medical allowance exemption, Zakat, and provincial taxes are not deducted here. For per-payslip precision, run payroll on Naasflow.

FAQ

Common questions.

Which slabs does this calculator use?

The default is FY 2025–26 (1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026), set by the Finance Act 2025. You can switch to earlier fiscal years from the selector. We update slabs within a week of the Finance Act each June.

What counts as taxable salary?

Gross annual salary minus statutory exemptions. The two common exemptions are medical allowance (tax-exempt up to 10% of basic salary, if your employer does not provide free medical or hospital treatment) and Zakat deducted at source. For the simplest estimate, type your gross — the result will be a small over-estimate of actual tax due.

Are EOBI and PESSI included?

No — those are social security contributions, separate from FBR income tax. Employee EOBI is capped at PKR 370 per month (1% of the minimum wage). PESSI applies in Sindh and a few other provinces. Naasflow handles both inside payroll, but this calculator focuses on income tax only.

Does the marginal rate apply to my whole salary?

No. Pakistan uses slab-based taxation. Only the income above each slab boundary is taxed at the higher rate. The calculator shows you exactly which slab your salary lands in and how the fixed component plus marginal rate combine.

Is this calculation good enough to use on a real payslip?

For a quick check, yes. For monthly payroll across a real team, use Naasflow — the same engine runs on every payroll run, plus EOBI, PESSI, loans, advances, variance review, and bank file generation.
